Whois Privacy Protection, sometimes also referred to as Privacy or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that conceals the authentic contact details of domain name registrants on WHOIS lookup web sites. Without such protection, the name, address and email of any domain owner will be openly accessible. Providing fake info during the domain registration procedure or changing the authentic information later will just not work, as doing such a thing may result in the registrant losing his/her domain name ownership rights. The policies adopted by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, demand that the WHOIS details must be valid and up to date at all times. The Whois Privacy Protection service was introduced by domain name registrars as an answer to the increasing concerns about possible identity theft. If the protection service is activated, the registrar company’s contact information will be displayed instead of the client’s upon a WHOIS check. Most domain names support the Whois Privacy Protection service, although there are some country-code ones that do not.

Whois Privacy Protection in Shared Website Hosting

If you’ve ordered a shared website hosting plan from us and you have registered one or more domains under your account, you will be able to activate Whois Privacy Protection for any of them without effort and to keep your personal data safe. Of course, this will be possible only with the TLD extensions that support such an option. In your Hepsia hosting Control Panel, you’ll notice an “Whois Privacy Protection” logo to the right of each of your domains. Its color will inform you if a domain is protected or not and in the second case, you can activate Whois Privacy Protection with only a couple of clicks. In this way, you can secure your private info even if you have not activated the service upon signup. You’ll be able to renew or to deactivate the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domains just as easily.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain under it, you can add our Whois Privacy Protection service easily. This takes just several mouse clicks in the Hepsia Control Panel’s Registered Domains section, through which you administer everything connected with your semi-dedicated hosting account. This is the place where you can see all your registered domain names and for each of them you’ll find an “Whois Privacy Protection” logo, using which you can activate, renew or deactivate the service. Of course, this can be done only with generic and country-code TLD extensions that support this option and you’ll be able to see this in advance, so you won’t end up ordering a service that we can’t provide.
