The NS, or Name Server records of a domain name, reveal which servers manage the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a given host company for your domain is the most convenient way to point it to their system and all its sub-records will be handled on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), and so on, so if you wish to modify any one of these records, you're going to be able to do it through their system. Put simply, the NS records of a domain show the DNS servers that are authoritative for it, so when you attempt to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to retrieve the DNS records of the Internet domain you are attempting to reach. That way the site that you will see is going to be retrieved from the proper location. The name servers usually have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and each and every domain has at least two NS records. There's no sensible difference between the two prefixes, so what type a host company will use depends exclusively on their preference.

NS Records in Shared Website Hosting

Taking care of the NS records for any domain name registered within a shared website hosting account on our state of the art cloud platform is going to take you only seconds. Via the feature-rich Domain Manager tool in the Hepsia Control Panel, you will be able to change the name servers not only of one domain, but even of multiple domain names at a time if you want to forward them all to the same hosting company. Exactly the same steps will also allow you to forward newly transferred domains to our platform because the transfer procedure will not change the name servers automatically and the domain addresses will still redirect to the old host. If you want to create private name servers for a domain name registered on our end, you are going to be able to do that with only a few mouse clicks and with no additional charge, so when you have a company site, for instance, it will have more credibility if it employs name servers of its own. The newly created private name servers can be used for directing any other domain address to the same account too, besides the one they're created for.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our semi-dedicated server accounts are handled using Hepsia - an all-in-one tool with incredibly user-friendly interface, which will enable you to control your domains without difficulty even if you have not used a web hosting account or a domain name in the past. Changing the NS records for each and every domain registered through our company, viewing the current ones and whether they are correct or not as to point that domain to our cloud hosting platform is also fairly simple and requires as little as a few clicks. You will also be able to register child name servers under every one of your domain names as part of the free DNS management services which we offer with each and every plan and have ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com. The latter can be used for each and every domain that you accommodate inside the semi-dedicated account, so if you provide services to third-parties and host their websites, using this feature will give you far more credibility as a business.
